The Glebe House Project was established in 1983 and provides a varied range of quality services for adults and children of all ages with a learning disability who live in and around the Charnwood area. Activities are developed for each individual, taking into account their personal needs.

Our children’s services include an afterschool club, children’s Saturdays, and a holiday Play scheme for the whole day and are unique in the area.

Our adult work skills project, for those who would like to learn new work skills in catering, grounds and property maintenance, administration and customer services, is popular as it is very much ‘hands-on’ and practical.

We also offer a community choices programme where clients make choices about how they’d like to spend their day– it might be a visit to an interesting place, birdwatching, swimming, bowling, keep fit, yoga and much more.

Our adult services include specialist autism services for young people and we have staff, who are highly experienced and trained in autism specific needs. One of these groups is for young people going through transition to adult services (CAP), who need a little more support and the other service (Junctions) is an extension of this service and is designed specifically for those with autism, who are more independent.

We also provide support for clients who are living in the community. We encourage independence in everyday activities such as cooking, shopping and managing finances. We have particular experience of supporting people with more complex needs.

We offer job coaching and support with advocacy as well as providing support to parents and carers.

In the evening we run a social club on Monday nights (ages 17-23) and for those aged 23+ a ‘carry on club’ which meets on Wednesday nights. We offer short weekend break respite care for adults too.

Breaking News! August 2010

Our brilliant children's holiday Playscheme is now over for the year and everyone has had a really good time. We have updated our pages with new photos .

This year we have done graffiti art, 3D sculptures, driving, go-karting, clay pigeon shooting, canoeing, swimming, cycling and trips out to TwinLakes, Stonehurst Farm and Conkers. Dave Benson Phillips of CBBC fame and our patron entertained the children at a Glebe House BBQ too!.
